Convent of Mercy Girls National School

Our school received some very exciting news recently regarding the national Doodle 4 Google competition. Two of our talented students were chosen as County Monaghan finalists. We are so proud of their efforts and wish them all the best for the next round of the competition where one county winner will be chosen by the expert judging panel from each age group in each region. Winners of this next round will receive a framed copy of their doodle, doodles to be displayed on the Doodle 4 Google website for public vote, Doodle 4 Google goody bag and an invite to an event in the Google Headquarters in Dublin. We are keeping our fingers crossed for these two girls, well done!

Scoil na gCailíní Wins Again!

Scoil na gCailini were the County winners in a recent national competition organised by Hasbro. On the 24th october 2008 each child was asked to bring €2 and their favourite board game to school. It was a chance for the students to participate in a fun afternoon and more importantly, to raise money for a local charity. We were delighted to send off €260 to the Castleblayney Cancer Society from the money raised on the day. Our school showed through its confirmation of participation that it had the most fun playing board games and were thrilled to receive €200 from Hasbro towards buying brand new games for the school.

The 2008 Knit-in was a HUGE success! Thank you to all those who donated money and prizes. Due to the generosity from our community and families, the school raised €4050! Well done to all the girls who did their very best in raising and collecting the donations!
