What is the Digital Schools Award?

The Digital Schools award initiative was launched by Minister Mary Hanafin in February 2006. The award recognises excellence in school’s approach to integration of ICT in learning and teaching, and aims to build on the excellent progress made by schools in relation to ICT.

To achieve the Digital Schools Award, Scoil na Scoil fulfilled identified criteria within the five areas:

  • Leadership & Vision
  • ICT in the curriculum
  • School ICT culture
  • Professional Development
  • Resources and Infrastructure

During the presentation, Mary Hanafin recognised and congratulated the hard work of all of those involved, particularly the children, who answered a range of questions confidently and enthusiastically.

Mrs Clarke, explained that Scoil na gCailíní would continue to use ICT within teaching and learning and endeavour to make further progess.

Since the Minister's visit, the ICT suite has been completed and an interactive whiteboard is being installed in the very near future.
